As a musical theatre performer, Yoga provided me with support on and off throughout my years at drama school and while working in theatres (both on land and at sea!). Left wondering what to do after my passion for theatre subsided, I entered the business world, initially as a PA, gaining experience in Marketing and PR organisations. After too many late nights out and long hours in an office, I found my way back to a regular yoga practice. At that time I was feeling ‘wrong’ in myself. Unhealthy, anxious and a little bit lost.
While on a 40 day yoga and lifestyle programme, the strength and vitality I gained prompted an initial job change, and I began working in learning and development in the workplace, a move toward something that felt more resonant and offered flexible working hours. It was also at this time I was drawn toward training to become a yoga teacher.
Then in 2011 I spent three months in India (at Brahmani Yoga, in Goa) completing a 400 hour Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training with my first ever yoga teacher (and 2nd mum!), Julie Martin, along with philosophy teacher Emil Wendel. During the teacher training I experienced moments of complete clarity, knowing quite simply that teaching yoga felt right and made me come alive.Since returning to the UK I have been teaching Vinyasa Flow classes and workshops predominantly in Richmond and the surrounding area, but also throughout various organisations and studios in London.I am passionate about exploring yoga in an accessible and relevant way for a wide range of people. I teach 1:1′s for individuals recovering from or experiencing illness, I lead classes for groups of musicians and actors, and am about to launch a yoga programme in care homes for the elderly.
I also have a keen interest in how Yoga can support the body and mind for sport and other fitness activities. I am currently teaching Yoga for Royal Mid Surrey Golf Club, as well as Community Classes at the Reebok Fit Hub in Richmond.
I continue to be a avid student of Yoga, attending classes and workshops throughout London with some of the most inspiring Yoga teachers from the UK and across the globe. I completed Mollie McClelland’s Mentorship Programme for yoga teachers in 2012-13, and this year have several course lined up. In July I’ll be heading to New York for the Strala Yoga Summer Camp with utterly inspiring Tara Stiles, and in August I have a trip to Sweden planned to deepen my knowledge of anatomy and assists with Julie Martin, my beloved teacher and lifelong mentor.
I adore how yoga is a continuing process of learning and evolving and I truly appreciates having such wonderful opportunities to practice, teach and connect with wonderful people.
My utmost aim and purpose is to Enhance Life Through Yoga – practicing and teaching to enhance the lives of others alongside my own.
With love and blessings,
